Compact Hatchbacks remained India's biggest segment in terms of volumes for February 2021. But; it was SUVs that recorded the highest YoY growth in Feb'21.
Let us look at Segment volumes for Feb'21 along with YoY analysis -
Compact Hatchback segment contributed near to 22% of the passenger cars sold in India for Feb'21. Do note that India's Best-Selling Car for Feb'21 was from this segment (Maruti Swift). However; the growth was almost flat in Feb'21 vs Feb'20.
Compact SUVs recorded one of the highest YoY growth in Feb'21 and emerged as the second-largest segment in terms of volumes. It is imperative to note that all big-ticket launches have happened in the segment in the past 6-7 months - Namely, Kia Sonet, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Nissan Magnite & Renault Kiger. Now almost all OEMs have a presence in this segment.
Premium Hatchback Segment ranked third in terms of volumes and recorded a YoY growth of 33%. Baleno+Glanza commanded over 53% of the segment's volumes in Feb'21.
Mid-SUV recorded a massive 83% YoY growth and was the fourth largest segment of Feb'21. The Korean dominance is clearly visible in the segment and Creta+Seltos duo managed to capture over 56% of the segment's share in Feb'21!
Entry Hatch, MUVs, Luxury Sedan & Premium Sedan segments recorded YoY degrowth in Feb'21.
