Tata Punch EV Prices Hiked By Up To ₹20,000; New Prices Start At ₹9.79 Lakh
Tata Motors has increased the prices of the 2026 Punch EV by ₹10,000 to ₹20,000, depending on the battery pack and variant. Following the revision, the electric compact SUV is now priced between ₹9.79 lakh and ₹12.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
All six variants have become more expensive. The two 30kWh versions receive a ₹10,000 increase, while every variant equipped with the larger 40kWh battery now costs ₹20,000 more.

The updated prices have also been reflected across major automotive retail platforms, confirming a new range of ₹9.79 lakh to ₹12.99 lakh.
Larger-Battery Variants Face the Bigger Increase
Tata has structured the revision according to battery capacity. The Smart and Smart+ variants with the 30kWh battery are now ₹10,000 more expensive, whereas the four 40kWh variants receive a uniform ₹20,000 hike.
The Smart+ remains the only trim available with both battery options. After the revision, the difference between Smart+ 30kWh and Smart+ 40kWh stands at ₹80,000.
For this additional amount, buyers get the larger battery, higher performance and a substantially better claimed driving range. This means the Smart+ 40kWh could continue to be one of the most attractive variants in the range despite receiving the bigger price increase.
No Changes to Specifications or Features
The latest revision is limited to pricing. There are no accompanying changes to the Punch EV’s equipment, battery packs or electric powertrain.
The 30kWh versions use a 65kW electric motor producing around 88PS, while the 40kWh versions get a more powerful 95kW motor producing approximately 130PS. Torque output is around 154Nm.

Both battery versions support 3.3kW and 7.2kW AC charging, along with DC fast charging. Four levels of regenerative braking are also available.
Price Increase Part of Tata’s Wider Revision
The Punch EV adjustment follows Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles’ announcement that prices across its car and SUV portfolio would increase by up to ₹25,000 from September 1, 2026.
The company said the broader revision was intended to partly offset rising input costs and persistent commodity inflation. The exact increase varies by model and variant.
Battery-as-a-Service Option Continues
The Punch EV is also offered through Tata’s Battery-as-a-Service programme. Under this arrangement, the vehicle’s advertised upfront price begins at ₹6.49 lakh, while the battery cost is paid separately through a usage-linked plan starting at ₹2.60 per kilometre.
Customers considering BaaS should compare the lower acquisition cost with the cumulative battery payments, expected annual running and financing conditions before choosing between it and conventional outright ownership.
Auto Punditz Take
The ₹10,000 increase on the 30kWh versions is relatively limited and allows the Punch EV to retain a conventional starting price below ₹10 lakh. However, the ₹20,000 hike across every 40kWh version makes the longer-range variants slightly less accessible.
Even after the revision, the Smart+ 40kWh appears to offer the strongest balance in the range. It costs ₹80,000 more than the corresponding 30kWh version but provides a bigger battery, stronger performance and significantly higher usable range.
The price hike is unlikely to materially change the Punch EV’s market position, but buyers should obtain a fresh dealer quotation. Insurance, finance amount and final on-road price may also rise following the ex-showroom revision. Customers with an existing booking should separately confirm whether price protection applies to their order.
