India’s scooter market continued to expand in July 2026, with the Top 10 best-selling models collectively registering 6,87,279 units, compared with 5,70,769 units in July 2025. This translates to a healthy 20% year-on-year growth.
While the Honda Activa continued to dominate the market by a considerable margin, its volumes declined year-on-year. In contrast, several models further down the ranking delivered strong double- and triple-digit growth, led primarily by electric scooters such as the Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube and Ather Rizta.

Honda Activa retained its position as India’s best-selling scooter in July 2026 with dispatches of 2,06,170 units. However, sales were down 13% YoY from 2,37,413 units recorded in July 2025. Despite the decline, the Activa continues to enjoy a substantial lead over every other scooter in the country.
The Activa alone accounted for around 30% of the cumulative Top 10 scooter volumes during the month, highlighting the continued dominance of Honda’s flagship scooter franchise.
TVS Jupiter finished second with an impressive 1,48,595 units, compared with 1,24,876 units a year ago. This represented 19% YoY growth, making Jupiter one of the biggest contributors to the overall expansion of the scooter market.
Suzuki Access maintained its position as India’s third-largest scooter, recording 82,505 units during July 2026.
One of the biggest highlights of July was the performance of the TVS iQube.
The electric scooter recorded 59,386 units, up from just 23,029 units in July 2025.
That represents an exceptional 158% YoY growth.
The iQube consequently emerged as the fourth-best-selling scooter overall, ahead of established petrol-powered products such as the Ntorq, Burgman and Dio. Its performance also demonstrates how quickly electric scooters are moving into the mainstream two-wheeler market.
The fastest-growing scooter among the Top 10 was the Bajaj Chetak. Sales increased from just 11,584 units in July 2025 to 47,184 units in July 2026, translating into a remarkable 307% YoY jump. Interestingly, the Chetak is now selling at volumes comparable with some of the most established petrol scooters in India.
TVS Ntorq recorded another impressive performance with 38,336 units in July 2026. Sales were up 46% YoY from 26,258 units during the corresponding period last year.
Suzuki Burgman ranked seventh with sales of 30,607 units. Compared with 23,720 units in July 2025, volumes increased by 29% YoY.
Honda Dio was one of only two scooters in the Top 10 to record a year-on-year decline. Sales stood at 25,903 units, down 7% YoY from 27,951 units.
Ather Rizta emerged as another strong electric performer. Sales climbed from 11,345 units to 24,833 units, representing an impressive 119% YoY growth.
Completing the Top 10 was the Yamaha Ray, which registered 23,760 units.
Sales increased by 45% YoY from 16,421 units in July 2025.
Electric Scooters Are Reshaping the Top 10
Perhaps the most important takeaway from July 2026 is the growing influence of electric scooters.
Three EVs featured among the Top 10:
TVS iQube – 59,386 units
Bajaj Chetak – 47,184 units
Ather Rizta – 24,833 units
Together, these three models accounted for 1,31,403 units during the month.
More importantly, all three recorded triple-digit year-on-year growth. Bajaj Chetak grew 307%, TVS iQube expanded 158%, while Ather Rizta increased 119%. This suggests that India's scooter market is no longer being driven exclusively by traditional petrol models. Electric scooters are increasingly competing directly with mainstream ICE products on absolute sales volumes.

Auto Punditz Take
July 2026 scooter sales point towards an increasingly competitive market.
The Honda Activa remains the undisputed volume leader, but the 13% decline contrasts sharply with the strong growth being recorded by several competitors.
The TVS Jupiter, meanwhile, continues to strengthen its position as Activa’s closest challenger, while Suzuki Access maintains its stronghold at No.3.
The bigger structural change, however, is taking place in electric scooters.
With TVS iQube already becoming India’s fourth-largest scooter, the Bajaj Chetak growing more than four-fold, and Ather Rizta more than doubling its volumes, electric products are rapidly graduating from niche alternatives to mainstream volume models.
With the Top 10 scooter market itself growing 20% YoY, the segment remains one of the strongest pillars of India's two-wheeler industry — but the brands and technologies driving that growth are clearly changing.
