The Top 25 Selling Cars constituted over 76% of the cars sold in March 2023. It had 9 models from Maruti, 5 from Mahindra, 4 from Hyundai, and, 3 from Kia & Tata, and 1 from Toyota. In terms of volumes, Maruti Suzuki models contributed over 47 percent to the Top 25!
Maruti Suzuki Swift emerged as the best-selling car of March 2023 with dispatches of 17,559 units. It was just 254 units ahead of Wagon R! Maruti's Brezza ranked third in the list and was also the best-selling SUV. Baleno slipped to the fourth spot - probably Maruti is prioritizing Fronx production?
Hyundai's Creta retained the crown as the highest-selling Mid SUV and ranked sixth in the list. However, it was closely followed by Maruti's Grand Vitara which took the 10th spot. The Mid SUV segment has definitely expanded with Maruti's entry and has also garnered positive traction for the Hybrid powertrain.
Toyota had only 1 model in the Top 25 and it was the Innova (Crysta+Hycross). It sold a massive 8,075 units and was just 1k short of the segment bestseller Ertiga! Also, note Mahindra's Thar making it in the Top 25 - Who would have assumed a Lifestyle Offroader selling 5k+ units! Mahindra shall be scaling up production of Thar to ward off Jimny's threat.
