Auto Punditz Verdict

H1 2026 once again highlighted the strength of India's SUV-led market. While Maruti Suzuki retained its dominance through sheer breadth of portfolio, Tata Motors continued to build momentum with its SUV lineup. Kia emerged as the biggest surprise with the Seltos and Sonet recording exceptional growth, while Toyota's hybrid strategy continued to pay dividends through the Hyryder.

With several new product launches scheduled for the festive season—including refreshed SUVs, hybrid offerings and next-generation models—the second half of 2026 is expected to witness even fiercer competition across India's passenger vehicle market.
