Best Selling Cars in India for June 2026 – Tata Punch Leads, Nexon Takes No.2 Spot

Tata Punch emerged as the best-selling car in India for the month, while the Tata Nexon secured the second position with a sharp year-on-year growth.
The June 2026 rankings also highlight the continued strength of Maruti Suzuki in the mass-market space, Mahindra’s growing SUV momentum and Kia’s impressive recovery in the compact SUV segment.

Tata Punch topped the June 2026 sales chart with 21,006 units, compared to 10,446 units in June 2025. This translated into a massive 101% year-on-year growth, making it one of the strongest performers in the top 25 list.
Tata Nexon ranked second with 18,335 units in June 2026, up from 11,602 units in June 2025. This marked a strong 58% YoY increase.
With both Punch and Nexon occupying the top two positions, Tata Motors had a remarkable month in India’s passenger vehicle market. The Nexon continues to benefit from its strong brand recall, safety positioning and availability across petrol, diesel, CNG and electric powertrain options.
Maruti Suzuki continued to dominate the overall list in terms of model count. The brand had several models in the top 10, including Dzire, Wagon R, Ertiga, Swift, Fronx and Baleno.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire was India’s third best-selling car in June 2026 with 17,899 units, registering a 16% YoY growth. The compact sedan continued to remain a strong choice among private buyers as well as fleet customers.
Wagon R followed in fourth place with 16,952 units, growing 31% YoY. Despite the rising popularity of SUVs, the Wagon R continues to remain one of India’s most dependable volume hatchbacks.
Ertiga ranked fifth with 16,111 units, up 14% YoY, underlining the strong demand for affordable 7-seater family cars. The Swift stood sixth with 15,215 units, growing 15% YoY.
Scorpio was Mahindra’s highest-selling model, ranking seventh overall with 14,097 units and an 11% YoY growth.
Thar ranked eleventh with 10,669 units, up 12% YoY, while the XUV 3X0 posted 10,063 units, growing 42% YoY.
XUV 7X0 also entered the top 25 list with 9,244 units, while the Bolero continued its steady run with 9,115 units, up 22% YoY.
Hyundai Venue was Hyundai’s best-selling model in the June 2026 top 25 list. It ranked tenth with 10,776 units, compared to 6,858 units in June 2025, registering a strong 57% YoY growth.
Hyundai Exter also featured in the list with 8,154 units, growing 39% YoY. Both models indicate Hyundai’s continued focus on the compact SUV and micro-SUV segments, where demand remains strong.
Kia had two models in the top 25 list. The Seltos ranked seventeenth with 9,654 units, registering a strong 85% YoY growth over June 2025. The Sonet followed with 9,231 units, growing 39% YoY. The performance of both models indicates renewed traction for Kia in the compact and mid-size SUV segments.
Toyota’s Urban Cruiser Hyryder registered 9,104 units in June 2026, growing 22% YoY. The model continues to benefit from demand for hybrid SUVs and Toyota’s brand strength. However, the Innova + Hycross combined sales stood at 7,332 units, down 17% YoY from 8,802 units in June 2025.

Key Observations
Tata Motors had a standout performance at the top, with the Punch and Nexon taking the first two positions. Both models posted strong double-digit growth, with the Punch more than doubling its June 2025 sales.
Maruti Suzuki continued to have the widest presence in the top 25 list, with models spread across hatchback, sedan, MPV and SUV segments. The brand’s strength remained visible through Dzire, Wagon R, Ertiga, Swift, Fronx, Baleno, Alto, Eeco, Victoris, Brezza and Grand Vitara.
Mahindra’s SUV-led strategy continued to deliver results, with Scorpio, Thar, XUV 3X0, XUV 7X0 and Bolero all appearing in the top 25. This reinforces Mahindra’s strong positioning in the SUV market.
Compact and sub-compact SUVs remained the most active space in the market. Models like Punch, Nexon, Fronx, Venue, Thar, XUV 3X0, Brezza, Sonet, Hyryder, Grand Vitara and Exter contributed heavily to the rankings.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza was one of the notable decliners, with sales falling 31% YoY to 9,939 units. Toyota Innova + Hycross also saw a 17% YoY decline, though it continued to remain among India’s top-selling premium MPVs.
