Two-Wheeler Sales August 2026: Dispatches Rise 10.5% to 20.35 Lakh; Hero Leads, TVS Gains Share

India’s two-wheeler dispatch snapshot for August 2026 recorded 20,34,698 units across the listed manufacturers, marking 10.5% year-on-year growth over 18,41,914 units in August 2025. All 13 manufacturers covered in the data reported higher dispatches than a year earlier.


Hero MotoCorp retained the top position, followed by Honda and TVS. While Hero and Honda increased volumes, their growth lagged the overall covered market, resulting in lower market shares. TVS delivered the largest absolute volume increase and the strongest market-share gain. The totals show 5.8% month-on-month growth over July’s 19,23,483 units. However, July data for Greaves Electric Mobility is unavailable. Excluding Greaves from both months, comparable dispatch growth stood at approximately 5.1%.

  • Hero MotoCorp dispatched 5,42,305 units, growing 4.5% year on year and 8.2% over July. Its market share nevertheless declined from 28.18% to 26.65%, a reduction of approximately 1.53 percentage points.

  • Honda followed with 5,17,329 units, up 7.5% year on year and 8.6% month on month. The gap between the two manufacturers narrowed to 24,976 units, compared with 38,118 units in August 2025.

  • Honda’s share also eased, moving from 26.12% to 25.43%. Together with TVS, the top three manufacturers accounted for approximately 73.4% of dispatches.

  • TVS recorded 4,33,796 units, an increase of 64,934 units over August 2025. Its 17.6% annual growth lifted market share from 20.03% to 21.32%, a gain of approximately 1.29 percentage points.

  • Bajaj Auto retained fourth position with 2,01,898 units, growing 9.7% year on year. Its 21.8% month-on-month increase was the strongest sequential percentage growth among manufacturers with comparable July data.

  • Royal Enfield followed with 1,14,204 units, up 11.0% year on year and 8.4% month on month. Its market share stood at 5.61%.

  • Suzuki dispatched 1,03,118 units, registering 12.5% growth over August 2025. However, volumes declined 16.3% from July’s 1,23,216 units.

  • Yamaha recorded 68,796 units, up 13.9% year on year but down 5.2% month on month.

  • Ather reported 29,694 units, growing 30.5% year on year, although dispatches declined 4.3% from July. Its share increased from 1.24% to 1.46%.

  • Greaves Electric Mobility more than doubled volumes to 12,439 units, registering 114.3% growth.

  • River recorded the highest annual growth rate in the table at 194.6%, with dispatches rising from 2,229 units to 6,567 units. It also posted 8.7% sequential growth, although its annual percentage increase reflects a relatively small base.
