Volkswagen India dispatched 2,467 units in June 2026, registering a 20% year-on-year decline compared to 3,089 units in June 2025. On a month-on-month basis, the brand’s dispatches were down 6% from 2,619 units in May 2026.
The decline was primarily driven by the sharp fall in Virtus volumes, while the Taigun remained relatively stable on a year-on-year basis. Volkswagen’s premium SUV and CBU portfolio, including the Tiguan and Tayron, continued to contribute limited but steady volumes.

The Volkswagen Virtus was the brand’s highest-selling model in June 2026 with 1,195 units dispatched. However, the sedan recorded a significant 33% YoY decline compared to 1,778 units in June 2025.
Volkswagen Taigun posted 1,182 units in June 2026, almost matching the Virtus in monthly volumes. The compact SUV recorded a marginal 1% YoY growth over 1,168 units dispatched in June 2025.
Tiguan dispatched 47 units in June 2026, up sharply from just 5 units in June 2025. This translated to an 840% YoY growth, albeit on a very low base.
Tayron recorded 43 units in June 2026, compared to 51 units in May 2026, marking a 16% MoM decline.
Meanwhile, the Golf registered no dispatches in June 2026, compared to 138 units in June 2025.

Outlook
Volkswagen’s June 2026 dispatches highlight a cautious month for the brand in India. The Virtus and Taigun continue to form the backbone of sales, but the decline in sedan volumes and limited premium model contribution kept overall numbers under pressure.
Going forward, Volkswagen will need stronger momentum in the midsize sedan and SUV segments, along with sustained retail push, to regain year-on-year growth in the Indian market.
