Auto Punditz Take
Bajaj Auto's July 2026 numbers reveal a significant transformation in its domestic product mix.
At 1,65,747 units, total dispatches were up a healthy 19% YoY, but the headline figure does not fully capture the changes taking place underneath.
The biggest shift is clearly the rise of the Chetak electric scooter. With 47,184 units,
Chetak contributed nearly three out of every ten units dispatched by Bajaj during the month and grew more than four-fold compared with last year.
At the same time, Bajaj's traditional commuter strongholds are becoming less dominant. The Pulsar 125, standard Platina and Pulsar 150 all registered sizeable YoY declines.
Offsetting this weakness is strong growth from the Pulsar 160/200 NS family, KTM Duke 200/250, Avenger 220 and newer 350cc motorcycles.
The July numbers therefore suggest Bajaj is increasingly becoming a more diversified two-wheeler manufacturer — with electric scooters and premium motorcycles taking a larger role alongside its traditional commuter business.
If Chetak maintains its current trajectory, electric scooters could emerge as one of the most important pillars of Bajaj Auto's domestic growth story through FY2026-27.
