Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India registered 4,59,611 units in domestic dispatches in May 2026, posting a 10% year-on-year growth compared to 4,17,250 units sold in May 2025. However, on a month-on-month basis, Honda volumes declined by 5% from 4,84,972 units in April 2026.
The May 2026 performance highlights Honda’s continued dependence on its scooter portfolio, particularly the Activa, while select motorcycle models such as Unicorn, SP160 and CB350 delivered healthy growth. At the same time, the Shine 125 — one of Honda’s largest-volume motorcycles — saw a year-on-year decline, weighing on overall momentum.

The Honda Activa continued to dominate the company’s sales chart with 2,28,955 units in May 2026. The scooter grew by 20% YoY from 1,90,713 units in May 2025 and also improved by 4% MoM over April 2026. Activa alone contributed nearly 50% of Honda’s total two-wheeler sales in May 2026, underlining its unmatched importance in the company’s domestic portfolio. Its continued growth also reflects the resilience of India’s mainstream scooter market, where family-oriented and urban mobility products remain strong.
Honda’s second-highest seller was the Shine 125, which recorded 1,40,901 units in May 2026. While the model remained a major contributor to Honda’s volumes, it declined by 5% YoY from 1,48,288 units in May 2025. The month-on-month fall was sharper, with Shine 125 volumes declining 16% from 1,68,636 units in April 2026. Given its scale, this decline had a visible impact on Honda’s overall MoM performance.
The CB Unicorn 150 continued to perform well, dispatching 34,925 units in May 2026. It grew by 22% YoY compared to 28,616 units in May 2025, though it declined 11% MoM from April 2026. Honda also saw strong traction in the premium commuter and mid-capacity motorcycle space. The CB350 recorded 4,178 units, growing 73% YoY from 2,410 units. The H’ness added another 2,128 units, up 66% YoY. Together, these models show that Honda’s 350cc portfolio continues to maintain a steady presence in the retro-modern motorcycle segment.
The Dio recorded 12,580 units, falling sharply by 52% YoY from 26,220 units in May 2025. It also declined 9% MoM from April 2026. The Dio 125 contributed 11,234 units in May 2026. Since the model had no dispatches in May 2025 in the given data, YoY comparison is not meaningful. However, on a MoM basis, the model declined 16% from 13,314 units in April 2026.
Honda’s electric scooter presence remained limited. The QC1 recorded 812 units in May 2026, while the Activa E saw no dispatches during the month after recording 200 units in April 2026.
Among Honda’s motorcycle range, the regular Shine posted strong growth with 14,540 units, up 46% YoY from 9,983 units. It also grew 2% MoM.
The SP160Â delivered a healthy performance with 4,235 units, growing 29% YoYÂ and 38% MoM.
The CB 125 Hornet recorded 4,319 units, growing 6% MoM over April 2026.
The Livo dropped to just 2 units, compared to 3,829 units in May 2025.
The Hornet 2.0Â declined 69% YoYÂ to 389 units, although it improved 69% MoMÂ over April 2026.
The CB 200XÂ also declined 30% YoYÂ to 413 units, but showed strong MoM recovery of 123%.

Conclusion
Honda’s May 2026 performance was shaped by three clear trends. First, the Activa continued to be the company’s strongest pillar, delivering both YoY and MoM growth. Second, the Shine 125 remained a major volume contributor but showed visible weakness, especially on a month-on-month basis. Third, Honda’s premium and mid-size motorcycle models such as CB350, H’ness, Unicorn and SP160 showed encouraging momentum.
Overall, Honda’s 10% YoY growth in May 2026 reflects healthy consumer demand, especially in scooters and select motorcycle categories. However, the 5% MoM decline indicates that the brand will need stronger support from its commuter motorcycle portfolio to maintain momentum in the coming months.
