India’s automobile retail market recorded its best-ever September in 2026, with 25,36,920 vehicle registrations, up 31.82% YoY and 4.69% MoM. Two-wheelers led volumes while passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles and three-wheelers also posted record September performances.

India’s two-wheeler retail market recorded 17,90,188 registrations in September 2026, registering 33.1% YoY growth. Honda led the market with 4,68,789 units and a 26.19% share, followed by Hero MotoCorp and TVS Motor Company.

India’s three-wheeler market grew 8.6% year-on-year in August 2026 to 1,22,281 units. Bajaj Auto remained the market leader, while Mahindra, TVS, Piaggio and Atul Auto recorded strong growth.

India’s tractor retail market remained largely stable in August 2026, with registrations rising 0.8% YoY to 87,977 units. Mahindra retained the top spot with 23.53% market share, while International Tractors and Escorts Kubota recorded strong double-digit growth.

Petrol lost its position as India’s largest passenger vehicle fuel category in August 2026, with CNG, hybrids and EVs together reaching 41.95% share versus petrol/ethanol at 40.85%.

India’s two-wheeler retail market grew 19.7% YoY in August 2026 to 17,14,610 units. Honda retained the No.1 position with 26.09% market share, while TVS strengthened its position and Ather emerged as a key EV gainer.

India's two-wheeler market recorded a strong 21.22% year-on-year growth in June 2026, with 18,28,458 retail registrations, according to FADA data. Hero MotoCorp retained its leadership position ahead of Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, while TVS Motor continued to strengthen its market share. The month also saw robust growth from Royal Enfield, Yamaha and Ather Energy, highlighting sustained demand across both ICE and electric two-wheelers.
